Psalm Forty: Saving Acts

Psalm 40 I waited patiently  for the  Lord ;      he turned to me and heard my cry.   He lifted me out of the slimy pit,      out of the mud  and mire; he set my feet  on a rock      and gave me a firm place to stand.   He put a new song  in my mouth,      a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the  Lord      and put their trust  in him. Blessed is the one      who trusts in the  Lord , who does not look to the proud,      to those who turn aside to false gods.   Many,  Lord  my God,      are the wonders  you have done,      the things you planned for us. None can compare  with you;      were I to speak and tell of your deeds,      they would be too many  to declare. Sacrifice a...

Psalm Thirty: David's Testimony

Psalm 30 I will exalt  you,  Lord ,      for you lifted me out of the depths      and did not let my enemies gloat over me.   Lord  my God, I called to you for help,      and you healed me.   You,  Lord , brought me up from the realm of the dead;      you spared me from going down to the pit. Sing  the praises of the  Lord , you his faithful people;      praise his holy name.   For his anger  lasts only a moment,      but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping  may stay for the night,      but rejoicing comes in the morning. When I felt secure, I said,      “I will never be shaken.”   Lord , when you favored me,      you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face,      I was dismayed. To you,  Lord...

Psalm Twenty-Six: Blameless

Psalm 26 Vindicate me,   Lord ,      for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted  in the  Lord      and have not faltered.   Test me,   Lord , and try me,      examine my heart and my mind;   for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love      and have lived  in reliance on your faithfulness. I do not sit  with the deceitful,      nor do I associate with hypocrites.   I abhor  the assembly of evildoers      and refuse to sit with the wicked.   I wash my hands in innocence,      and go about your altar,  Lord ,   proclaiming aloud your praise      and telling of all your wonderful deeds. Lord , I love  the house where you live,      the place where your glory dwells.   Do not take away my soul along with sinners, ...
